Pictures of Our Dessert Table from Mindy Weiss Event!

Many of you know that I was lucky enough to fly to LA two weeks ago for Mindy Weiss' Most Ridiculous Wedding Event Ever. Well, here are some pictures from the "ridiculously talented" Elizabeth Messina of our dessert table. Style Me Pretty, the ultimate wedding blog, posted these pictures today. Yes, we know that we are seeing vintage, autumnal weddings everywhere, but we thought that we would shake things up a bit with a more bright and contemporary look for our visit to LA. After all, it was bright and sunny out in LA and we thought it would be our last chance of some color before the winter sets in.

At the event, I spoke to the many brides and event planners who attended about infusing their personality into the design of their event. I love graphic patterns so I wanted to infuse a bold pattern into the dessert table to show how I would bring a design that I loved into a dessert table. My thought was take a modern look that one might find on a Tory Burch tunic or a Jonathan Adler pillow (love them both!) and bring that into the event. With that, we created our own version of the classic greek key pattern for a modern and chic dessert table. We used that pattern for signage such as a backdrop, stickers, marshmallow flags, and candy bar wrappers. We had the "ridiculously talented" Cake Divas whip up a cake, cupcakes, cookies and petite fours using our greek key pattern. We even created greek key pattern flower sculptures using green mums. The idea is that you can take any pattern and color scheme and make your dessert table (or event design) completely your own. We had a "ridiculous" time creating this table and we hope that you enjoy our creation!

Just a Sneak Peek of Our Dessert Table

We're busy getting ready for some parties and Martha Stewart Weddings 15 Anniversary, but in the meantime here is a sneak peek of what we did for Mindy Weiss' most ridiculous wedding event ever. We used bright colors and our own version of a greek-key pattern, creating a very modern look for our dessert table. Pictures of the whole table by Elizabeth Messina will be coming next week. We can't wait to share them!

Behind the Scenes at the Mindy Weiss Event!

I am JUST back from Mindy Weiss' Most Ridiculous Wedding Event Ever in LA and the event TOTALLY lived up to its name. Unlike any bridal event I have ever been to, Mindy held a talk-show style wedding bootcamp with interviews from the best in the industry. The event took place at the Mark for Events and the audience consisted mostly of event planners and brides, as well as lifestyle editors. With DJ Danno spinning tunes at Mindy's side, the event was like an Ellen DeGeneres show for event planners. Not only is Mindy a powerhouse (interviewing industry professionals for 8 straight hours), but she is also so funny that she made those 8 hours chock-filled with knowledge both entertaining and absolutely effortless. She is so calm and personable that she even managed to make me feel at ease while speaking! I said it a million times yesterday, but Mindy belongs on her own talk show! Okay here's my last bit of gushing about Mindy and then I will stop...her team genuinely has such a good time together (which speaks volumes about her) and are so fun that you want to hang out with them all day long! Mindy and the team were all dancing together with all of the guests on the dance floor by the end of the day to the Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling." Can you tell that I have a crush on them?

Now on to what was included in the event. There are three rooms at the Mark...Mindy's team set up one room for the classroom and one room for the guests to have breakfast and lunch (both rooms decorated beautifully in white and tiffany blue.) Mindy brought in Revelry Decor to transform the last room from a raw space to a decked-out, gorgeous Mindy Weiss-style event. She allowed guests, most aspiring event planners, see that room transformed throughout the day. It was very neat and all of the guests were inspired.

Now on to the speakers...I was really honored to be included as a speaker amongst some of the best in the industry, not to mention Mindy's personal fave vendors. Every speaker was informative about their specialty. Speakers included the Cake Divas (who held a cake decorating contest), film photographer Elizabeth Messina, digital photographer Jay Goldman, Greg Hawkins of Classic Party Rentals, Cindy Smith of Mark's Garden Florists, (who held a floral arranging contest), and many, many more. Darling Christy Weber of Junebug Weddings also spoke and was was intensely blogging about the event real time throughout the day. Marilyn Oliviera of Inside Weddings spoke about how to get your client's wedding pictures in a magazine. There was also a surprise, awesome Doo-Wop Group from West Coast Music that serenaded us! Oh, and the AMAZING Ellen Black of Lehr & Black was there with the most RIDICULOUS invitations ever! She is also such a doll - LOVE her and can see why she and Mindy are lifelong friends!

Here are some highlights of the event. And not to worry, we will share our pictures of the dessert table next week, as we were so honored to have Elizabeth Messina shoot the dessert table for us!

Mindy Weiss' Most Ridiculous Wedding Event Ever

I am so excited to be heading to the west coast tomorrow for Mindy Weiss' "The Most Ridiculous Wedding Event Ever!" For those that don't know, I've been a HUGE Mindy fan for many years. I met her for the first time a few years ago at a wedding that she coordinated and have admired her ever since. So it was such an honor when I received her phone call to come out to LA for her one-of-a-kind classroom-style wedding event for brides, grooms, and wedding professionals. She even asked me to be a guest speaker at the event! The best part about it...she is SO incredibly sweet (as is her whole team) and I am just so happy to know her!

So to give you a few deets on what were doing...we're going geometric and modern with vivid colors. Think Jonathan Adler or Tory Burch style, but on a dessert table! I'll be sharing pictures next week because the very talented Elizabeth Messina will be photographing the table. Cake Divas (and they are THE cake divas) are working hard this week on some special desserts that will be included on the table. Thanks to my amazing team for pulling everything together this week! This really is going to be the most ridiculous wedding event ever!
