Fave Finds from the Stationery Show Part I

I'm back from the Stationery Show to give you a peek of some fabulous new stationery products. There were over 1,000 paperie boutiques at the show and many lovely products, but here are some of my faves. Come back tomorrow for more!

Guest Dessert Table Feature

Today's guest dessert table feature is a kid's dessert table from Lindsey of Bella Grace Designs. Lindsey created an all pink party ala Pinkalicious for her daughter Alyssa's birthday, which Lindsey said was inspired by us. Lindsey used oversized balloons like we often use for a focal point for her table. The cake is really sweet and simple and the dessert table is the appropriate size for a kid's birthday party. I also love how Alyssa and her friends are all wearing pink. And how precious is the picture of Alyssa hugging her mom at the end of the party?

Okay, just a little tip from the Dessert Table Designer...I think it would be great if you put a contrasting linen under your dessert table linen so you can see another color peeking out under your pale pink linen. A linen in the brighter pink palette would be nice. That will tie in the brighter pink color that is in some of the candy to the rest of your table. Kind of like what we did here for the design for Grier Shield's birthday party. I think you did a great job Lindsey and it looks like Alyssa was a pink princess at her party!

David Stark's Purely Paper Flower Pop-Up Shoppe

I had the pleasure of attending the opening of David Stark's purely paper flower pop-up shoppe at West Elm last night. For those who don't know, I am a huge fan of David's work. David is well known for using unexpected materials to create innovative and dramatic installations. If you are not familiar with his work, visit his site now! It is an experience!

For his most recent installation, David created an entire pop-up shoppe out of paper from pages of old books. It is pretty surreal to enter West Elm and then see a shoppe inside fabricated out of paper! In the shoppe are beautiful flora, watering cans, and gardening tools, all created out of paper. The pop-up shoppe is open to the public today and tomorrow (see invite below) so if you are in NYC, be sure to check out David's incredible creations. For all of you aspiring event designers and crafters, check out David's new book. You will be so inspired! Below are some pics of the event. Guest Dessert Table Feature from Sweden

Linda and Christina of Holy Sweet Blogspot in Stockholm, Sweden emailed me with pictures of their first dessert table. Linda and Christina are bakers, but just ventured into the dessert table world after seeing my tables on the blogosphere. Apparently, no one in Sweden is doing sweets tables yet so Sweden may be seeing a new trend soon. I love the color palette and the yummy desserts they chose work naturally with the color palette. I also love that they brought in a signature drink onto the table.

Okay, a little constructive criticism from the Dessert Table Designer since all of my readers are asking me about what they are not doing right with their dessert tables...Make sure you steam your linens before you start setting your table so that the table looks pristine. Also, cut down your cake pop sticks so that they do not block other vessels on your table (this will also be more practical for your guests to handle the pops). Other than that, you are on your way. Well Amal Sarah of the Wedding Chateau sent me these pictures of her party all the way from Singapore and the beautiful event decor would have lived perfectly with our dessert bar. Amal also took a stab at a dessert bar and it came out really lovely. I love seeing that our trend of dessert bars has made it all the way to Singapore!
