Fancy Food Show Part I - Meeting with Barefoot Contessa

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a big Ina Garten (the Barefoot Contessa) fan. In fact, my two kids, who are only 4 and 3 years old, may possibly be her biggest fans. Instead of watching Dora, they opt to watch the Barefoot Contessa. They insist that we record it, and we cook or bake something every week using her cookbooks or her shows as inspiration. My older son even had a chef's birthday party inspired by Ina, which I will post about this week! Given our love for Ina, it was a huge honor to have met her at the Fancy Food Show in NYC today. She was just as lovely in person as she seems on screen!

My goddaughter Hailey is an Ina fan too. Now almost 8 she's been watching since I first introduced her at age 2. In fact she attended aftrenoon kindergarten & everyday before we left, she'd have her lunch watching Ina on the Food Network.
When she was 4 we were at Borders & a woman saw her looking at an Ina display & said to Hailey..."do you like the pretty pictures??"
Hailey responded "Oh that's Ina Garten she's the Barefoot Contessa. You should try her recipes."
The owman almost fainted. It was hilarious.
We both would have loved to been there.

How fun! I would love to meet Ina. My two-year-old daughter adores her as well, and insists on watching her each evening before bed. It has become such a fun bonding time for us!

Amy, you are so lucky! I've always wanted to meet Ina. I am inspired by her because she always seems to be happy and smiling: her love of her work really shows in whatever she's doing. Love that! Also I think it's awesome that your son had a bday party inspired by her. Hope you'll share photos.
