Guest Dessert Table Feature from Sweden

Linda and Christina of Holy Sweet Blogspot in Stockholm, Sweden emailed me with pictures of their first dessert table. Linda and Christina are bakers, but just ventured into the dessert table world after seeing my tables on the blogosphere. Apparently, no one in Sweden is doing sweets tables yet so Sweden may be seeing a new trend soon. I love the color palette and the yummy desserts they chose work naturally with the color palette. I also love that they brought in a signature drink onto the table.

Okay, a little constructive criticism from the Dessert Table Designer since all of my readers are asking me about what they are not doing right with their dessert tables...Make sure you steam your linens before you start setting your table so that the table looks pristine. Also, cut down your cake pop sticks so that they do not block other vessels on your table (this will also be more practical for your guests to handle the pops). Other than that, you are on your way. Great job Linda and Christina! I'll be back with more international guest dessert table features soon to show you where our trend is hitting around the globe!

Guest Dessert Table Feature

Remember this dessert table that we created for The Wedding Library back in 2008?

Photography by Gemma Comas for Amy Atlas Events.

Well Amal Sarah of the Wedding Chateau sent me these pictures of her party all the way from Singapore and the beautiful event decor would have lived perfectly with our dessert bar. Amal also took a stab at a dessert bar and it came out really lovely. I love seeing that our trend of dessert bars has made it all the way to Singapore! Check out the beautiful details of the party below along with some behind the scenes pictures. Amazing job Amal!

Mother's Day Over-the-Rim Tea and Cookie Set

My family loves having tea and cookies after dinner. We drink out of petite tea cups and my sons like to pretend that they are serving the tea. It is usually the time when we reflect about our hectic day and we try (emphasize try - they are boys after all!) to have a moment of peace with them.

So when I saw Meghan Mountford's over-the-rim cookies, I flipped over the idea. Seriously, I can't get enough of this idea. An over-the-rim cookie and tea set is a thoughtful and sweet gift for moms on Mother's Day, and kids can participate in the fun of making it with this recipe here. Hopefully, some dads are reading this so that us moms don't have to make it for ourselves! Happy Mother's Day to all of my fellow lovely moms. I hope you get a moment of peace and r & r on your special day!

Guest Dessert Table Feature

Vicky Hudgins from The City Cradle emailed me with pictures of a dessert table she created for a birthday girl. This dessert table is sweet and appropriate for a small home party for kids. Most of the desserts on the table are store bought or can be easily made at home. Vicky incorporated a pretty pinwheel and pearl design throughout the table. My favorite detail is the pinwheel-starburst pops. You can probably create the pinwheel pops with any kind of taffy or fruit roll ups as well. I also love the pretty dot tablecloth and how Vicky utilized the white brick for her background. Great job Vicky!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

We're very busy with projects today (more on that soon), but I thought I would share this lovely picture of streaming colorful papel picado by Emiliano Rodruguez. If you missed yesterday's post about Cinco de Mayo decor, check it out here. Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Cinco de Mayo Party Decor

Cinco de Mayo is tomorrow so it is time to put on some mariachi music and get into the festive mood. Below is a roundup of Cinco de Mayo decor including Papel Picado decor. Papel picado is the traditional Mexican folk art of punching colorful tissue paper to create beautifully designed banners. If you are intimidated by an intricate pattern, you can create a simple fringe papel picado with just tissue paper, twine, scissors and tape (diy instructions below). I'm also loving the Cinco de Mayo Margarita cupcakes! Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

DIY Vellum Mobiles

How amazing is this diy vellum mobile created by Jordan Ferney of Oh Happy Day? This vellum mobile can be created in any color palette and can be a real show stopper at your party. Fill your party room with it, hang it over your dessert bar or buffet area, or create a chuppah out of this gorgeous mobile. The best part of this project...it can be made for less than $25 with just vellum paper, fishing weights, an exacto knife, artist tape, and a sewing machine. Jordan shares the step-by-step directions to create this colorful mobile here on Project Wedding. Love it...thanks Jordan!
